Happy Brrrsday!

Well, it's Thursday, but around here it's BRRRRsday! It's pretty cold and windy out here today! The temp's around 23 (degrees) and so's the wind (miles per hour) with occasional gusts even higher, so there's a decent wind chill going on out there.

I would like to just not go anywhere with the kids today but I have to take a check to the preschool for next semester and I should do my invoice at the newspaper because (GRRRRRRRR) I am WAY behind in getting paid (Their fault! And I told them I'm not writing any more until I get paid!) I also have a few bigger things that are going to Goodwill that I'd like to get out of here because they're taking up valuable space (Fake Christmas tree, lamp, etc.)so we will probably end up going out.

I HAVE to get my Christmas cards done. Honestly, there's not a ton to do. I am only sending out around 30. I just haven't sat down to do them.

We exchanged Christmas gifts with my best friend and her kids yesterday, which was fun. We always do it early. Always have. It's fun to not have to wait! The kids have some new toys to play with and she got me something totally unexpected... A gift set of Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers G perfume! It has a really cute little bottle of perfume and a matching solid perfume container. I think it smells like pineapple. Yum!

This is what it looks like. Too cute!

I volunteered in the preschool classroom yesterday. Thankfully we didn't have to take the kids out for recess. That would have been a major pain in the rear! The kids are getting ready for their Christmas program, practicing songs and poems. It's really cute. There are a couple kids who really like me, so when I volunteer they always want to sit next to me or crawl up into my lap at music or story time. It's sweet.

This one kid was CRACKING ME UP yesterday. When the teacher was telling the Nativity story, every time she asked a question, his answer was (SHOUTED for all to hear) "A T-REX!!!!!!" Like when she asked what kinds of animals were in the stable, he shouted A T-REX! And when she was ready to open the next window on the Advent calendar, she asked what the kids thought would be behind it. All of them yelled "The Baby Jesus!!!" Except for Alex, who yelled "A T-REX!" I almost wet my pants I was laughing so hard.

Maybe you had to be there.

Mom left yesterday and drove all the way home even though the weather forecasts weren't good. She said it wasn't too bad, though. I expected the Mackinac Bridge to be closed due to high winds, but she said it wasn't blowing too badly.

She mentioned writing a guest post for my blog when she was down here, but never got around to it. That's too bad. I suggested she write about how disappointed she is that her daughter is a total slob, because she did teach me how to clean when I was a kid, I just suck at it now. My poor mom feels the need to clean constantly when she visits. She said she thought that would be a mean thing to write and I said "Why? I know I'm a slob!!!"

Also, my mom is an amazing quilter, and she made the boys each their own Christmas quilt. They are SO SO pretty! Want to see?

I had a hard time taking a photo of all of Logan's quilt spread out on his bed, but you get the idea. Jordan's is folded over his crib so you're only seeing part of that one. Each square on them is a different Christmas-related picture, each individually quilted and edged and SO PRETTY. Jordan's is blue plaid on the back and Logan's is burgundy.

Oh, Jordan de-pantsed himself for the first time during his nap the other day. I thought that was funny, and so did he. Of course I took a pic!

Here's my "green" gift-wrap that I did on my best friend's present. I used Christmasy fabric and a real ribbon and a sprig of fake Christmas flowers instead of a bow. I did this for another gift, too, and made a gift tag out of a piece of birch paper I found blowing around our back yard. Pretty! Also, you can just iron out any wrinkles and re-use it over and over and over again! It doesn't get yucky and you don't throw it away. Just fold up the fabric and pack it away for next Christmas.

So, that's about it for me I guess. Not much else going on.

Hope you have a great day!

Stay warm!

That's a really cool idea using fabric! Too bad I've already wrapped all mine in paper :( I'm not too good on the green thing. Although I do always save boxes, tissue, bows, and any reusable scrap of paper possible. So at least I'm not a total trasher.

LOVE the quilts!!!!
