Slow it down, baby!

Dear Jordan,

In three days you will be nine months old. You have spent as much time "on the outside" as you did "on the inside."

How did this happen?

I would appreciate it if you would please just slow down. Stop growing up so quickly. You and your brother are getting too big, too fast.

The other night you crawled after a toy. Yes, you kind of did it like a wounded war vet, and it looked funny as can be, but you got your belly off the ground and CRAWLED and darn it all, you GOT that toy. Then you decided to let go of my hands while I was helping you stand, and my goodness, you stood there, unsupported, all by yourself for a few seconds before sitting down on your fluff-butt with a THUMP! Then you had to do it again and again and again. The look on your face was priceless. You were SO proud and SO happy. I wish I could have caught the moment on camera, but I didn't. It was too fleeting.

That's OK. I have it in my head. I'll never forget.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you to slow down. Please stay my little baby a while longer. I love your soft, chubby cheeks and those little stumpy legs of yours that can't wait to toddle around. I love your yet-unstinky feet. I just plain love YOU.

I'm not ready for the whole walking thing yet, OK? Crawling is enough for now.

Thanks!
Love,
Mom
